The Honey Pot

Random Update

11 April 2026

I haven't been in the mood to update my site as of late. Things haven't been too bad, I just haven't had the energy. This is just a random update so I don't feel so disappointed in myself, I hate seeing months go by without updating this place.

Reading

I finished the first Hedge Wizard book but didn't bother writing a review, I'll have to get around to that eventually. Anyway, that marks book #6 complete in my 10 book challenge! I also really enjoyed it, probably more so than anything else I've read this year. That feels weird, given I've read really popular and well written books like Hitchiker's Guide and The Hobbit, but I guess I love generic fantasy.

I started reading the second in the series but stopped, wasn't feeling it. Instead I picked up the first in the Dresden Files series, Storm Front. It's interesting, a detective story in the modern age with fantasy elements. Some elements are grisly, others are cheesy. It's a great mix, like a crunchy taco.

Photography

I've still been taking pictures, but again, not really having the energy to upload them. Still, here's one I'm quite happy with: Two geese flying low just above a lake's surface

I took this last week on a walk through a castle gardens. The lake had lots of ducks, geese, and swans but every time I wanted to take pictures they were on the opposite side of the lake to me. On one of these occasions some guy on the opposite side accidentally spooked some up into the air and I managed to grab this shot.

Gaming

I have been playing a lot of Old School Runescape lately. At first I was aiming to get base 70 stats, but then I noticed that I had nearly all the stats required to complete all quests in the game and get the quest point cape, so I started aiming for that. I've been making good progress and only have two left. Unfortunately they're pretty vicious quests and I don't know if I'm actually skilled enough to do them.

For people familiar with Runescape, the two are A Night at the Theatre and Desert Treasure II. The ToB I think I could do with some other people, I can kill the first boss solo easily enough but know I'm going to struggle through the whole thing. Hopefully some friendly people won't mind carrying a noob through an entry run. DT2 however, oh dear. I've killed Vardorvis (after 10ish attempts) and am a bit scared of tackling the Leviathan. I've seen videos and I just don't believe I have the skill to deal with that many prayer switches and movement at the same time. Since I've been questing quite a lot I decided to take a break and skill up a bit. I'm going to try getting 85 range and then attempt Levi. I think I became a bit too obsessed with getting the QP cape and forgot that there's no need to rush.

Old School Runescape Leagues

OSRS is about to run Leagues VI, a special gamemode where you're given insane abilities to complete special challenges. You're rewarded with points that let you unlock cosmetic items in the main game, so this temporary game mode is fun, but doesn't feel like you're not going to get anything out of it. They've shaken things up quite a lot with this one, so it should be a good time!

Anyway, I think that's about it from me for now. See you in July (probably)
